Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need a reservation to go on a tour?
To ensure we have a bike for all of our guests, Bonza Bike Tours recommends reservations for your tour. You can book online using our secure online payment feature, or you can simply call us in Sydney!
2. How do I reserve my tour in advance?
It’s easy to reserve your tours in advance online or by phone, and doing so will help you save time and ensure you have a spot on the tour that works best with your schedule. You can use a credit card or Paypal for bookings.
3. What is your cancellation policy?
We will make every effort to reschedule you on a different tour if at all possible. All bookings are fully refundable if the booking is cancelled 3 days (72 hours) or more prior to the scheduled tour. The payment will not be refunded for any other reason (i.e. weather, change of travel plans, illness, missed train, missed plane, overslept…) within 72 hours of the scheduled tour.
4. Will the tour still run if it's raining?
Definitely! Bonza provides rain ponchos whenever the rain falls. The ride is completely safe in rain, and only adds to the adventure. Rain or shine, WE RIDE!!!
5. What should I bring? Will you have a place to store my backpack during the tour?
Bonza provides you with a state-of-the art bicycle and helmet to wear on the tour. If you have a backpack, purse, or other items that need to be stored, we’ll happily store it for you in a secure storage area until you return from your tour. In addition, you might want to consider bringing the following items:
- Camera (you will take in some amazing views)
- Comfortable clothes for riding (some people even wear jeans, so no major requirement)
- Closed-toe shoes
- Water bottle (all bikes can carry about 600ml, we also sell water at low prices)
- Hat (can be worn under a helmet)
6. Where do the tours meet? Where is Bonza Bike Tours located?
Bonza Bike Tours is located near the corner of Harrington St and Argyle St in Sydney’s historic district, The Rocks. Our address is 30 Harrington Street, Sydney, NSW 2000 Australia.
7. What size are your groups?
We like to keep our groups small and your experience personal. Group sizes can vary on the day, but ideally we try to have one guide for every 10-12 guests. Our Sydney Classic Tour averages about 12 guests, but can get quite large during peak times. We always try to have a backup guide or guides ready to take out a second group or more, should the numbers get too big.
8. What sort of bicycles do you have?
Our bikes are 21-geared hybrids that will guarantee an enjoyable ride! We have them in different sizes and we also have children’s bikes. For the youngest member of your family, you can have a trail along or kids’ tandem. All our bike hires and tours include a helmet. We currently do not have or hire out proper mountain and/or racing/road bikes. Click on our Bike Hire page to check out our selection of adult and children’s bikes!
9. Can I bring my own bike? If so, what is the cost of a tour?
Certainly! If you bring your own bike, the cost of the tour is 50% off the regular price.
10. Does Bonza Bike Tours do private tours or group events?
You bet! Bonza will tailor a private tour or event based on the unique needs of your group. The end result is a tremendous and unique experience for your group. Check out our Groups page to find an experience that suits your needs.
11. I haven't ridden a bike in years. Is it easy?
You bet! We have put together a ride that is suitable for all skill levels and ages, from those who haven’t ridden years to those who ride regularly. Bonza is a great option for the whole family and allows you to get the exercise that you sometimes neglect while traveling. It’s all as easy as …well, riding a bike! No, you won’t be the first grandmother or grandfather riding the tours.
12. Are Bonza Bike Tours a safe activity to do in Sydney ?
Safety: Are our tours safe? The answer is: Absolutely! While we always stress a fun and entertaining experience, safety is our number one priority. Our tours follow carefully planned routes in which we ride in the street a minimal amount of the time – instead we prefer to take you through parks, harbour fronts, and on large sidewalks if necessary. Additionally, we’ve picked the least congested streets and easiest paths. You won’t have to worry about traffic when riding with us! Finally, Bonza guides are thoroughly trained in safety procedures and will always be there to help you along the way.
13. Do the tours go out during winter?
Absolutely! Our tours run year-round! The winters here in Sydney are pretty mild compared to other regions around the world. On some days all you may need is a jumper/pullover, and who knows, you may even be riding in shorts!
